Edward Richmond #937 of New York

My lineage is proved up to Elijah Richmond (#2456) and (#941a).  Elijah may be either the son or the brother of Edward Richmond (#937) per the JBR book (or neither).

937.  EDWARD RICHMOND(6) (Edward 5, Benjamin 4, Edward 3, Edward 2, John 1) was born in Spencertown, N.Y., about 1770, and died in Steuben County, N.Y., December 30, 1856.  He married Huldah (Polly) ______, who died in Herkimer, N.Y., aged forty years.  They resided in Oneida, N.Y.  He served in the Revolutionary War.

CHILDREN:
2456.  Elijah (7), born in 1778; married Elizabeth Fowler, --
2456a.  James(7), born in 1791; married Sarah Cartwright
2457.  Ebenezer(7), born Dec. 26, 1793; married Louisa Gott
2458.  Edward(7), born March 23, 1796
2459. Peleg(7), born about 1800.
2460. Rebecca(7), married Gershom Truesdale
2461. Ruth, married John Painter of Herkimer County, N.Y.

If Edward was born in 1770, he couldn't be Elijah's (born 1775/1778) father.

Edward Richmond in the 1825 New York State Census.

I've started to look in deeds in order to trace Edward Richmond and family.

#7427 - Julia Powers Young From NY To IL To IA

Julia Powers was born in Wayne Twp., Steuben County, New York on May 15, 1818, to Cyrus & Nancy (Richmond) Powers and was their eldest child.

Julia Powers married Joseph Young on May 4, 1861, in Tiskilwa, Bureau Co., Illinois. Joseph Young was born in 1839 in Rhode Island and died 1914 in Union Co., Iowa. Joseph R. Young's father was Edward Rogers Young by his 2nd wife, Amanda K. Coggeshall, daughter of Caleb & Elizabeth (Hart) Coggeshall of Rhode Island.

Joseph R. & Julia (Powers) Young had two children:

Charlotte Young, b. 1863, in IL (have not found any additional information about her)

Cyrus Edward Young, b. Dec 1866 in Illinois, married Estella A. McDonald, daughter of James & Lucy A. (Withrow) McDonald. There is a wonderful McDonald website that documents the ancestors of James McDonald here.

Many of the Joseph R. & Julia (Powers) Young family moved to Union County, Iowa.

Huldah Bancroft & her brother, Jacob L. Richmond, are found in the probate files of their brother, Sumner Richmond, here.

The Michigan Pioneer and Historical Collection (Volume of 1878) had a brief synopsis of different places where Rev J.O. Bancroft's family lived. He was mentioned as an Historical Society member here. Another volume mentioned the death of John O. Bancroft here.

The "History of Tuscola County," provided details of John O. Bancroft's life.

The death record for John O. Bancroft can be found online here. His death, among others, mentioned as a "promoted worker" in a church publication here.

It is believed that Huldah Richmond Bancroft died in November of 1899, but needs to be verified.
