2290.  Washington Houghton [1793-1813] 7, (Sarah Richmond 6, Amaziah 5, Ebenezer 4, Ebenezer 3, John 2, John 1) was killed in battle in the War of 1812 (born in Woodstock, Vermont).

Sarah Richmond and her descendants are eligible for the Thomas Rogers Society.

2291.  Ira Houghton 7 (Sarah 6, Amaziah 5, Ebenezer 4, Ebenezer 3, John 2, John 1), was born in Woodstock, Vermont, to Israel Taylor Houghton and Sarah Richmond.  He died in the War of 1812.

Israel Houghton, Son of Sarah Richmond

2288.  Israel Houghton 7, (Sarah 6, Amaziah 5, Ebenezer 4, Ebenezer 3, John 2, John 1) was born in Woodstock, Vermont, in 1789; was in War of 1812. [As seen in the J.B. Richmond, Richmond Family book]

According to this site, Israel married Fanny Hammond; their children were Lucy, Leander and Harriet.

The Houghtons were found on the Thomas Rogers Society website, for descendants of Mayflower passenger Thomas Rogers.

Henry R. Pierce, Grandson of George Richmond

From History of Michigan, Volume 3:

George Richmond, the maternal grandfather of Henry R. Pierce, was born at Westport, Massachusetts, January 6, 1780, and died in August 1843.  He was married first December 6, 1806, to Esther Thomas of Stamford, Vermont, who died April 22, 1828.  He was married second, October 1, 1829, to Experience Williams of Perry, New York, having removed to Riga, New York, as one of the first settlers of that place in 1807.  He served during the War of 1812, participating in the battles of Buffalo and Erie, and of his company of forty men, but twenty one returned to their homes.

Solomon Pierce was born in Vermont in 1802 and was married in New York in 1833 to Hannah Richmond [George Richmond's daughter], who was born in the Empire state in 1814.  He was a gunmaker by trade and came to Michigan in 1852, here following his vocation for several years after which he purchased a farm in Kent county where he passed the remainder of his life.

He died in 1884 and the mother survived him until May 1910, passing away in the faith of the Universal ist church.  They were the parents of six children, of whom four are now living, and Henry R is the fourth in order of birth.  Benjamin T., who is engaged in the ice cream manufacturing business in Grand Rapids, Charles B.,, who resides on the old homestead farm in Kent county Elizabeth, who married Mr. Noble and is now a widow of Grand Rapids, and Henry R.

Elijah Richmond - War of 1812 Veteran?

Found in a Wisconsin biography of Elijah Richmond's grandson, Marvin W. Acker, was a tidbit about Grandpa Elijah. It stated that Elijah Richmond was in the War of 1812 and drove an ammunition wagon (presumably with a New York Regiment).

A guide to researching War of 1812 records at the National Archives can be found here. The NARA guide mentioned series M602 (234 microfilm rolls) which can also be found at the Library of Michigan (Index to Compiled Service Records of Volunteer Soldiers Who Served during the War of 1812). Perhaps I can find evidence of Elijah Richmond's participation in the War of 1812. The NARA guide stated: "The records are arranged by state or federal volunteer unit and thereunder alphabetically by name of soldier."
