A Peek At The Rich & Famous - The Life of Dr. & Mrs. Jacobs

A Richmond in Baltimore; Dr. Henry Barton Jacobs, who married Mary (Frick) Garrett (widow of Robert Garrett), a social activist and socialite on April 2, 1902, was a Richmond descendant. [Note: These are not my Garretts; mine were in Arkansas by 1850]

Dr. & Mrs. Jacobs divide their time between three residences; Whiteholme in Newport, Mount Vernon Place in Baltimore (also see here) and Uplands on the old Frederick Road. Uplands was formerly the property of General John Swan, the great-grandfather of Mrs. Jacobs, and is part of the original Hunting Ridge.

Baltimore: its history and its people, Volume 2 by Lewis Historical Pub. Co., profiled Dr. Henry Barton Jacobs. This was Doctor Jacobs' Richmond lineage: (Barton R. Jacobs, Clarissa, Benjamin, Perez, Sylvester*, Edward, John). There is additional information about other surnames connected with Dr. Jacobs, including Church, James, Jacobs, Ford, Brewster, Cushing, Rogers, and Jenkins in the book.

*Sylvester's Richmond's wife was a Mayflower descendant

More about the Richmond line:
Among the children of Perez & Deborah (Loring) Richmond:

-Deborah Richmond married James Jacobs, son of Joshua & Mary (James) Jacobs

-Dr. Benjamin Richmond m. Sarah Church (daughter of Thomas & Ruth (Bailey) Church)
Clarissa Richmond, daughter of Dr. Benjamin & Sarah (Church) Richmond, married Ichabod Richmond Jacobs - Barton Richmond Jacobs, son of Ichabod & Clarissa (Richmond) Jacobs, married Frances Almira Ford; their son was Henry Barton Jacobs, M.D.
See the final resting place of Dr. & Mrs. Jacobs here.
