Samuel Richmond, Son Of Braddock Richmond #1224


[No #] Samuel Richmond 7 (Braddock 6, Benjamin5, Perez 4, Silvester 3, Edward 2 , John 1).  He is most likely the son of Winnifred Ridley Garrett Richmond, who divorced Braddock Richmond in 1835 in Tennessee.

#1224. Braddock Richmond


1224. BRADDOCK RICHMOND 6 (Benjamin 5, Perez 4, Silvester 3, Edward 2 , John 1) was born in Little Compton, R.I., February 19, 1780, and died in 1870. He married, May 30, 1805, Nancy Lindsey of Virginia, who died December 10, 1810, having had two children, who died young. He married, secondly, November, 1814, Mrs. Ruth (Sheffield) Taylor* of Rhode Island. They removed to Tennessee, thence to Tremont, Ill., where they resided in 1858. * Daughter of Capt. Aaron Sheffield of Newport.

Note:  Braddock Richmond married thirdly, Mrs. Winnifred Ridley Garrett; they divorced in Tennessee in 1835.

Winnifred Richmond's Divorce Request

Abstract: *Winnefrid Richmond seeks a divorce from her husband, Braddock Richmond, on the grounds that said Braddock has "been living for the last two years in open Adultery with one of his, or rather, your Petitioners female slaves named Polly." She informs the court that she married Braddock in 1821 after the death of her previous husband, Thomas Garrett.

[Excerpt] Abstract: Mary G. Binns...asks the court to sell a slave named Alix... . Binns explains that her grandfather, George Ridley, bequeathed Alix and three other slaves to her mother, Winnifred Ridley Garrett Richmond, by his 1836 will. At his daughter's death, he instructed that the slaves and their increase be divided among Winnifred's children from her two marriages. Winnifred Richmond died in June 1854, thereby entitling Mary, her sister, Sarah V. Mullin, and their brother, Thomas Garrett, to Alix.

Ernest Hutchinson 10 (Ernest Hutchinson 9, Ruth Richmond 8, Morris 7, Sylvester 6, Edward 5, Benjamin 4, Edward 3, Edward 2, John 1), born in Sturgis, Michigan, on 2 July 1871.  His mother's name was Helen Thompson.

Ernest Fred Hutchinson married Florence J. Westphal in Livingston County, Michigan, on February 7, 1893. She was born on April 7, 1871, in Brighton, Michigan.

(Ernest) Fred and Florence were living in Warren County, Tennessee, with in-laws, in 1910.  At that point they had been married for 17 years and had no children.

A link to his passport in 1917.  His address was listed as Washington, D.C., and he was doing clerical work for the Seventh Day Adventists.  A 1922 passport entry here, where he stated that he was a resident of McMinnville, Tennessee, and was doing missionary work.  A link for the 1919 entry here and Florence's passport information was on the next page.  The 1919 information indicated that the couple was living in Trinidad.

In 1928, according to passenger records, the Hutchinsons were living in Benson Springs, Florida.

Anna (Richmond) Warner #6250





#6250.  Anna Elizabeth Whitwell Richmond 8 (Bradford P., 7; Bradford, 6; Perez, 5; Perez, 4; Silvester, 3; Edward, 2; John 1) was born December 11, 1842.  She married, June 29, 1865, W. P. Warner.  he was a lawyer; settled in Winchester, Tenn.; removed in 1862 to St. Paul, Minn., where he resided in 1895.  Children were Anna Richmond Warner and Richmond Perez Warner.

Enos Soule & Alice (Richmond) Richmond


ENOS SOULE RICHMOND (8) (Amaziah 7, Amaziah 6, Amaziah 5, Ebenezer 4, Ebenezer 3, John 2, John 1) was born at Whitewater, Wis., February 17, 1855. He married, at Appleton, Wis., August 7, 1879, Alice Geneva, daughter of Norman C. and Elizabeth Yates (Atkinson) Richmond (see No. 7395). She was born in Appleton, Wis., February 5, 1854. They resided at Whitewater and Appleton, but were settled at Oshkosh, Wis., in 1896. He graduated at the Normal School in Whitewater in 1878, was Principal of the High School at Oregon, Wis., 1879 and 1880, and at Packwaukee, Wis., in 1881. He changed his business on account of his health, and in 1883, removed to Appleton, Wis., and took charge of a large manfactory; afterward became superintendent of an extensive business in Oshkosh, where he was well known in church, school and social matters, as well as in his manufacturing business.

The Enos Soule Richmond family was found here in the 1900 census. Alice's mother, Elizabeth, is probably living next door to the family. Did they have a daughter, (Alice) Virginia, ca 1903?

Norman Soule Richmond was found in Chicago in 1910:

Eva (Richmond) Seaton was the daughter of Enos Soule & Alice (Richmond) Richmond, and the wife of Edward Seaton. She was a member of the DAR. They were living in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1920 and in 1930, along with daughter Alicia.
