Candace Calesta Richmond

6051. CANDACE CALESTA RICHMOND 8, (William D. 7, George 6, Edward 5, Perez 4, Silvester 2, Edward 2, John 1) was born in Riga, N. Y., July 25, 1830.  She married first, April 2, 1854, William H. McGinnis.  He was born in Ulster County, N. Y., in 1834.  He enlisted in the Thirtieth Michigan Regiment, December 23, 1864, and was honorably discharged June 23, 1865.  He was drowned, December 7, 1867, while crossing Bald Eagle Lake on the ice.  She married, secondly, May 1, 1876 ( married 1 May 1870 in Genesee Co., Michigan), at Ortonville, Mich., Taylor H. Stewart.  He was born in 1810 and died January 5, 1874 (sic; died in 1884).  She resided in Ortonville, Oakland County, Mich., in 1896.  They had no children.

In 1900 Candace Stewart, a milliner, born August 1831, was living in Brandon Twp., Oakland County, Michigan, as head of household with a transient person living with her.

In 1870 Candace was enumerated as Candace Stewart and living in the household with Stuart Taylor (Taylor Stewart's name was transposed in the census).

In 1860 Candiz McGinnis, age 28, born in NY, was living in Oakland County, Michigan, with her farmer husband, William, age 27, who was also born in New York.

Candace (Candy) Richmond was living with her parents and siblings in 1850 in Groveland, Oakland Co., Michigan (enumerated as Richards).

Candace Richmond's second husband, Taylor Stewart, age 53, was living with first wife Melinda, age 50, and Merton Stewart, age 23, as well as others in Oakland County in 1860.

Candace C. (Richmond) Stewart died 4 January 1911 in Oakland County, Michigan.  Her date of birth on her death record was listed as 28 Aug 1831.  She was living in the Eastern Michigan Asylum (Pontiac) at the time of her death.  She was buried in Ortonville Cemetery.  There is a picture of Candace C. Candace C. Richmond was a Mayflower descendant as were all of the descendants of Silvester and Elizabeth (Rogers) Richmond.  Silvester was a son of Edward Richmond, who is also my ancestor.
