A more comprehensive blog entry about Massachusetts Senator Charles Sumner can be found here.  His great-grandmother was Hannah Richmond, daughter of Perez Richmond, and granddaughter of Silvester Richmond.  Silvester's father was Edward Richmond (who was also my ancestor); Edward's father was John Richmond, the original immigrant to North America. 

Silvester Richmond married Mayflower descendant Elizabeth Rogers in 1693.  Descendants of Silvester & Elizabeth (Rogers) Richmond are related to Mayflower passengers Thomas Rogers and John Alden.
