Col John Crocker Former Ames Man Dies after Crash
WASHINGTON The air force announced today that Col John Powers Crocker, ...of Long Beach Calif., a former Ames Iowa resident, died Monday of injuries suffered when his bomber crashed... . Crocker, son of Mr and Mrs [Gretchen**] Thomas F Crocker of Long Beach, was on a training flight when the bomber crashed on a forced landing near Casa Blanca. The Crockers moved from Ames in 1935. The elder Crocker was formerly city editor of the Ames Daily Tribune.  Col. Crocker's wife is the former Lynn Blake of Des Moines. Her mother Mrs Katherine Blake lives in Des Moines. Mrs John Powers and Mr and Mrs Carl Powers of Ames are Col Crocker's aunts and uncle.   **Gretchen Powers, daughter of John and Ella Osmun Powers
