Death Of Eugene Richmond


As written in the Grand Rapids Press on November 2, 1922:

Eugene Richmond Taken By Death

Eugene Richmond, pioneer resident of the north end of the city and for many years prominent in local political circles, died Wednesday at his home, 259 Spencer Street, after a long illness.  Funeral services Plainfield Avenue Church of Christ, of which Mr. Richmond was a member... .

Born in Ferrysburg 72 years ago
Lived in Grand Rapids from early childhood
Besides his widow he leaves four sons, Joseph E., Louis R., and William H. of this city and Ernest Richmond of Battle Creek.
Served as First Alderman of FifthWard
Burial at Oak Hill

Eugene was the son of Elliott (1820 - 1869) and Eliza (Lamphere) Richmond (ca 1832-1899).
