6052.  GEORGE W. RICHMOND 8, (William D. 7, George 6, Edward 5, Perez 4, Silvester 3, Edward 2, John 1) was born in Riga, Monroe County, N. Y., March 16, 1834.  He married, March 13, 1864, Ada J. Cole, at West Bloomfield, Mich.  He enlisted in the Tenth Michigan Infantry, November 1, 1861, and served three years.  He re-enlisted in the spring of 1864, as a veteran, receiving a furlough of a month; he was married, then returned to his regiment, which was stationed in Tennessee.  He was then appointed Corporal, and for meritorious conduct promoted to Lieutenant, and was killed at the battle of Jonesborough, Ga., September 1, 1864.  They had no children.  His widow married subsequently.

In 1860 George was living in Groveland, Oakland County, Michigan, with his father William, age 52, and mother, Betsey, age 52.

Ada J. Cole was living with her father, Nathan Cole, and stepmother, Adaline (Richmond) Cole, in West Bloomfield, Oakland Co., Michigan, in 1860Ada married 2nd Frederick Lewis Roat on December 26, 1866.

George W. Richmond was a Mayflower descendant, as were all descendants of Silvester (3) Richmond.
