John Richmond Hired A Substitute In the French-Indian War
327. John Richmond 5 (Stephen 4, John 3, Edward 2, John 1) was born in Westerly, R. I., February 24, 1733. He married first, November 3, 1757, Sarah Hazard of West Greenwich, R. I., daughter of Robert Hazard, who was born May 6, 1734, and died November 1760. He married, secondly, Sarah Mowry, who died January 2, 1810, without children. He married, thirdly, Mrs. Martha Doylas, who died April, 1822. He died March 4, 1816.
He was a Justice of the Peace for a number of years, and was a Quaker. He was admitted a freeman of Richmond, R. I., March 14, 1754, and was drawn for the French War, but hired a substitute on account of religious scruples.
